Jaime, is in her 4th year at Brock University, studying psychology. Nikolas, completed his 1st year at Conestoga College taking welding and fabrication technician. In January he will return to school to pursue a diploma in HVAC from Humber College, and Lauren just started her freshman year at Bemidji State University in Minnesota where she is a member of the Bemidji State Women's Hockey Team. Our family has always owned a dog, however we lost Reese in July 2023, and Mocha is now 15 years old!
I started Caledon Tailblazers because my own dogs were getting older and no longer begging me to take them on walks. I didn't want the commitment or responsibility of a puppy but I did want to have the company of a young dog to motivate me to get out and go for a walk. And so the idea of dog sitting and dog boarding came to mind. I had done a fair amount of dog sitting for friends and neighbours and knew I loved spending time with animals and since I work full time from home it seemed to be a perfect match. Soon after, Caledon Tailblazers, was born. Since starting this business I have not looked back! I absolutely love the company of the dogs and I am grateful to them every day for motivating me to get out and enjoy our beautiful Caledon trails.

We are the Mooney Family! My name is Katrien Mooney and I started Caledon Tailblazers in August 2022 with the support of my husband, Rob, and my three kids, Jaime, Nikolas, and Lauren. Although I do most of the work, I can usually count on my family for extra support when required. Rob is a police officer with Peel Regional Police and works shift work therefore he is often home during the week.

Safety
The safety of the pets in our care is of the utmost importance to us. Katrien is pet first aid certified and we are insured by PROfur insurance. All pets in our care must complete a waiver and all dogs are vetted to ensure they are friendly with other dogs. Dogs must be fully vaccinated against rabies, DHPP (Distemper, Hepatitis, Parvo and Parainfluenza) and Bordetella (a.k.a. kennel cough) is highly recommended.
